American Pharoah Wins Triple Crown. American Pharoah’s victory in the Belmont Stakes early Saturday evening puts him on an elite list of only 12 horses that have won horse racing’s big three.
Saturday’s win followed up American Pharoah’s victories at the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes.
The powerful bay colt with a faint star on his forehead was bred in Kentucky by Ahmed Zayat, CEO of Zayat Stables, LLC.
American Pharoah also won the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park this year.
The last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed in 1978.
