Cat Saves Boy from Dog Attack

Now to the incredible video of a cat rescuing a little boy from a vicious attack by a dog. They say a dog is a man’s best friend. But this cat did not get the memo because this boy’s best friend is definitely — and his hero, definitely his cat.

ABC’s David Wright has the story. Reporter: This may be painful to watch. Caught on camera, where the dog is clearly the villain.

And the hero, a flying furball named Tara. She plowed straight into the dog, sending him scurrying with his tail between his legs. That’s 4-year-old Jeremy, finding his own business, caught in the middle.

On his left, the neighbor’s guard dog out on the prowl. On his right, Jeremy’s normally mild-mannered cat. It happened so fast, his parents didn’t even realize the cat was involved until they took a look at the security camera tape.

Our little panther. Reporter: Tara, adopted this family, following mom and dad home from the park one day years ago. That’s a kitty cat.

Reporter: They kept her, even though mom is allergic to cats. She chose you. She did.

And we’re very thankful. That she’s been here. Reporter: Tara would claim into the crib beside him.

We would find her sleeping in the crib all the time and take her out to make sure she didn’t smother him or something. And they’ve always been very close. Reporter: Now, more than ever.

She’s a hero. Reporter: For “Good morning America,” David Wright, ABC news, Bakersfield, California. How great is that?

I think we should look at it one more time in slow motion. It really is incredible. 15 years in the NFL.

And that’s one of the best tackles. Like a bullet. Cross-body block.

Out of the way. I’m coming through. Leave the kid alone.
